Auto Accidents can happen anywhere, anytime and to anyone so it is beneficial to be prepared if you are involved in an Auto Accident in Georgia. The following shall outline the proper steps that you should follow if you are in an Auto Accident in Georgia.

The first step that you must follow in an Auto Accident is to stop your car. If you do not stop your car, then you could be charged with a hit and run which will only make matters worse in this situation, not to mention possibly leaving injured people without proper help and possibly death. Therefore, the first step in an Auto Accident is to stop your car.

The second step that you must follow in an Auto Accident is to assist the injured. Whether the injured is yourself, a passenger in your vehicle, the other driver, or a passenger in the other vehicle, it is very important that you assist the injured. For example, call the police or an ambulance and be sure to tell them your location and the direction in which your were traveling so that they can find you as soon as possible.

Do not render aid to someone unless you are qualified to do so. Do not move an injured person but you may cover the person with warmth such as blankets or jackets. If an injured person is bleeding and you are qualified to render first aid, then you may be able to stop the bleeding by applying pressure or a tourniquet. If a person is unconscious, then do not give that person anything by mouth. You can also render assistance to injured person by following the next step.

The third step that you must follow in an Auto Accident is to call the police. You or the other driver may call 911 from any mobile phone or if a passerby stops his or her vehicle then they can call the police as well. The sooner that you call the police, the sooner help will arrive and this could save lives.

The fourth step that you should follow in an Auto Accident is to get as much information about the other driver as possible such as the other driver's name, address, insurance information and policy number, and license number.

The fifth step that you should follow in an Auto Accident is to obtain as much information as you can from any witnesses such as names, addresses, and verbal and written statements. You will also want to obtain this information from any passengers that were in the vehicles involved in the Auto Accident. If you keep this information in your car along with some paper and a writing instrument, then it may be easier for you to remember these important steps and have the materials necessary to gather this important information.

The sixth step that you should follow in an Auto Accident is to take notes and obtain all the Accident Information that is listed in the blog titled: What to do if you are in an Auto Accident in Canton, Georgia ~ part three.

You should also diagram as much as possible of the accident. Although we think that we will remember important details of such an event, our memory will fade over time so the more information that you gather such as diagrams or pictures at the time of the accident will provide the most accurate information later on when it is very important.

If someone has a camera, then take photos; lots of photos. Take photos of the cars, the direction the cars were traveling, skid marks, the damage to the cars, the people injured, the position of the cars, and any other physical evidence that can prove helpful later on in depicting what exactly happened at the accident.

A video account would also be helpful if anyone has a video camera available. With cell phones, almost everyone has the capability to take photos and movies so use those devices in these situations. If you don't have a camera or movie capability, then draw a diagram and use as much detail as possible.
